I thought we covered this S#%@!

As some of you know, I was and am an avowed proponent of the 9/11 First Responders Bill, which was passed in late December of last year. This bill gave medical compensation to the firefighters, paramedics, and police officers who rummaged through thousands of pounds of rubble and hundreds of victims during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. And when the bill, which took 9 years to pass, was approved, it was seen as a victory for these national heroes. But there was something that I, and many others didn't know.

Yesterday, it came to mine and the American people's attention that, even though the law covers the oh so horrendous conditions of, Chronic Cough, Chronic Laryngitis, and Carpel Tunnel, the Democrats, in order for Republicans to vote for the bill, had to take out one simple disease. Cancer. For Republicans, Cancer was the deal-breaker. But not to fret, all that has to happen is, there has to be a proven link between Cancer and digging through the remains of the World Trade Center. This testing could take up to 6 years. These tests will take up quite a bit of time, and this is time that our nation's heroes don't have. The worst case scenario, the absolute worst case would be that we accidentally treat the Cancer of a 9/11 first responder who's Cancer's origin was never proven. I don't care if they got stomach cramps, they were there, they got Cancer,we treat it.

Run Ye Republicans!

Though the 2012 Presidential Election is about a year away, the race is quickly approaching. Even though Mitt Romney and Michelle Bachman are the clear front runners, there is still much room for dark horse candidates to come into the picture. In my mind, there are two candidate who have the ability to turn the race upside down. Each of these candidates could have the power to topple Bachman or Romney, and/ or finish in the top two or three.

Rep. Ron Paul, from the 14th district of
Texas is a former surgeon and OB/GYN, he serves
House Foreign Affairs Committee, the Joint Economic
Committee, the Committee on Financial Services, and
is the chairman of the House Financial Services
Subcommittee on Domestic Monetary Policy. With a
resume like Rep. Paul's there is no doubt that he has
The experience needed to run the nation. And with his
career as a doctor, Paul's views on healthcare may be
very much correct, based on the fact that he has spent
countless hours in the medical field. Though Paul's poll
standings have been constantly fluctuating, this may  be
nothing but a setup for Rep. Paul, through his straight
talk and valuable insight to make a stand during debates.
I am only worried that Paul's charisma, or lack there of,
may be his greatest downfall. Watching his debates, I
agree, yet cringe when the crowd is completely silent
after Rep. Paul states something that makes complete sense.
And if Ron Paul can find a way to rally the crowd well
enough, these debates should be where he will flourish
and gain the most voters.

Herman Cain is a former business man, radio host, and columnist. He was the chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas. Cain is also the former Chairman and CEO of Godfather’s Pizza. Before his political and executive career took off, Cain also served as a mathematician for the U.S Navy. For some time, Cain also worked as a business analyst for Coca-Cola Company. This  area of employment may give him the experience he needs to find ways to increase consumer spending and cut costs. There is no doubt that Herman Cain’s resume’ demands attention. As a small business owner finding success in the capitalist market, Cain is the essence of the American dream. And the belief in Cain’s (or everyone’s) American dream will certainly strengthen Cain’s appeal to working class voters or any voter that is sick of the average politician. If Cain can successfully portray his success in a way that will give everyone hope of finding their own, the pre-election debates should help him tremendously in the process of vote getting. The votes Herman Cain does get, may not be election winning ones, but certainly ones that could change the outcome of the 2012 Republican Primaries.

Sarah Revere.

Many of you may be following Sarah Palin's "liberty trail" where Sarah has learned alot about US history... like her account of  Paul Revere's midnight ride...

"He who warned uhh the the, the british that they werent gonna be takin' away our arms, by ringin those bells and makin sure as he's riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were gonna be secure and we were gonna be free."

                                   ....Captivating...

Like many may know, Paul Revere was riding a horse, so he probably didn't ring a bell. "well Longfellow messed up in his poem!"
He did it on purpose, so that the story would fit the poem. Also, He didn't even yell, let alone fire shots. I'm also pretty sure he didn't say that we were secure. Oh Sarah... it's not really a big deal.. but you're the all time patriot? Aren't you? Atleast that's what your tea party fans have led me to believe.
The fact of the matter is, Sarah Palin took the story of a true hero, and turned it into some, pro-republican, pro-guns blather.

This story is especially troubling when accounting for the Newsweek article entitled, " What we don't know" , when 1,000 US citizens were given the US citizenship test and 38 percent failed.  19 percent of Americans couldn't even point out independence day on a calender and 29 percent could not name our vice president. How about we give every American this test, and if you fail, you will be deported. Overpopulation problem solved! Haha.

Also, Sarah Palin stated that it was a "gotcha question" when all the man asked was, "What have you learned so far today?"

So ... Palinites...

 You Betcha!

DC. Class. Trip

Yesterday was our first day of the dc trip, everything went well, except when we visited the memorials. Students from other schools were so disrespectful, it was as if they had no idea where they were. At the wall of fallen vietnam soldiers, two girls and their posse started laughing uncontrolably in the middle of a very quiet reflection. I, infuriated, confronted them stating, "i dont know how youre comfortable laughing in the presence of the names of the soldiers who have fallen for this country, especially after they fought and died for your right to laugh and show disrespect."

They, with shock on their faces, shrugge me off and walked away.

Moments later they started trying to joke around with me, i walked away.

Still angry.

Osama Bin Laden

WHITE HOUSE TO RELEASE OSAMA BIN LADEN DEATH PHOTO TONIGHT AT 10:55 TUNE IN!

This is probably a good time to talk about my feelings on the subject...  I can't help but have a weird feeling in my stomach knowing that US citizens are celebrating someone's death. I know that Osama Bin Laden was a terrible person, and a genocidal maniac, and by no means do I wish he was still alive, I also strongly believe osama bin laden deserved to die. I don't want people to think i am sympathetic to him. But you have to think, isn't this kind of like when we see the Taliban celebrating the death of one of our soldiers? And with our celebration, this may only anger the Taliban even more. I ,along with many others, kind of view this victory as a time to reflect and not necessarily to party it up. Thankfully, this US victory will bring Americans together. "BREAKING: Imam vows revenge."  This 5 minute old headline further emphasizes our need to be careful with what we say and do. I think Martin Luther King Junior said it best....

"Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that..."

...So with that quote let us show love for the deaths caused by this man, and show love for the families of the victims, while showing love for the soldiers fighting to keep us safe...

God bless America,
  Anthony C.
